SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Two Good Samaritan Society skilled nursing locations have been recognized as a 2024 Silver – Achievement in Quality award recipient by the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL)..
- Good Samaritan Society – Jackson
- Jackson, MN
- Good Samaritan Society – Le Mars
- Le Mars, IA
“This award is a reflection of our staff’s unwavering dedication and commitment to ensuring our residents have the best quality of care and quality of life,” said Nate Schema, Good Samaritan Society president and CEO. “Working with seniors is truly a calling and I am beyond proud of our staff who have answered that calling and who make an impact in our residents’ lives every single day in a meaningful way.”
The award is the second of three distinctions possible through the AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Program, which recognizes organizations that meet progressively rigorous standards of performance to further improve the lives of residents and staff in long-term care.
“We are one big family in Jackson,” said Paige Bloom, Good Samaritan Society – Jackson administrator. “Everyone knows everyone in our small community of 3,000 people. We are taking care of our grandparents, neighbors and teachers who grew up in Jackson. That’s a responsibility we take very seriously and I am so proud of our amazing caregivers who show up every single day to care for, love and support our residents.”
“Walking through the doors of Good Samaritan Society – Le Mars, you are welcomed with a sense of warmth and familiarity. A friendly wave and greeting from a staff member. A smile from a resident,” said Jolynn Hoffman, Good Samaritan Society – Le Mars director of nursing services. “Everyone is someone here and this is our residents’ home. We consider our residents family and it is truly a privilege to care for them.”
The National Quality Award Program has three progressive levels: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. At the Silver level, recipients have met the criteria for the Bronze award and move on to evaluate and improve their processes, creating a systematic approach for all aspects of the organization that leads to positive outcomes and success. Trained examiners review each application to determine if the center has met the demands of the criteria.
This year, 98 skilled nursing care centers and 16 assisted living communities and 25 dual skilled nursing/assisted living organizations in 31 states earned the Silver Award. Silver recipients can now move on to the final and most prestigious level of the program, the Gold – Excellence in Quality award.
“Earning the Silver award is no small feat, and Good Samaritan Society – Jackson and Good Samaritan Society – Le Mars have demonstrated exceptional commitment to quality improvement,” said Cathy Bergland, AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Board Chair. “This recognition is a clear reflection of their hard work and unwavering focus on delivering superior care and service to residents and staff.”
The National Quality Awards will be presented during Delivering Solutions 24, the AHCA/NCAL Convention & Expo, October 6-9, 2024, in Orlando, Florida.
