SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Good Samaritan Society – Sioux Falls Village celebrated CNA Week at their center on Wednesday, by bringing in food trucks and providing lunch for their CNAs.
Many of these CNAs are taking on more duties because of ongoing staffing shortages and while the job is a lot of work, CNAs say it’s also very rewarding.
“As we get older a lot of people do end up in nursing homes, so I find it really important to be on the other end of it, and be the one who’s working with them and seeing what they go through every day, the hard days and the good days,” said Sioux Falls Village certified nursing assistant Megan VanKalsbeek. “So anybody that is thinking about becoming a CNA or working in a nursing home, I very much recommend it.”
