Resident Learning
   < BACK

Our approach to resident care and services is based on engaging residents in life and learning at whatever level and to whatever extent possible and desirable.  Residents in care centers are encouraged and assisted to maintain the highest level of functioning possible and to be involved in their activities of daily living.  A variety of recreational and social activities call residents to remain engaged with life, to learn new skills and to develop new interests.  More independent residents are encouraged to continue learning activities they have enjoyed throughout their lives and to expand their knowledge and skill base through a variety of resources and cultural activities.

Life-long learning opportunities are available through center/campus libraries, on-site activities, instructors from local colleges, participation in community events, and in numerous other ways.  Many of our campuses also offer “Senior College,” a learning program that brings interesting courses on-site.  Course titles have included, The Lewis & Clark Expedition, Painting of Landscapes, Writing Creatively, The 1920’s and 1930’s, Where Did the Bible Come From? Mountain Men of the West, and more.

As a learning organization, we are committed to enriching the lives of seniors.  At the same time, we honor the life lessons and the wisdom they bring to enrich our lives.
